First Day of Preschool Checklist for Parents
Essential Items
- Backpack - Big enough to fit A4 size books, and easy for your child to carry.
- Change of Clothes - Include underwear, in case of accidents or spills.
- Lunchbox - not required, as snacks and lunch (for daycare) are provided.
- Water Bottle - Clearly labeled with your child's name.
- Comfort Item (optional) - Such as a small toy or blanket for comfort (if necessary).
Health and Hygiene
- Face Masks (optional) - For replacement during the day.
- Mosquitoes repellent - A small bottle for personal use, to be left in school, and replenished when finish.
- Hand Sanitizer (optional) - A small bottle for personal use.
- Sunscreen (optional) - Applied at home, brought to school for reapplication.
Identification
- Name Tags or Stickers - On all belongings, including backpack, lunchbox, and bottles.
- Emergency Contact Information - Updated and provided to the school.
Educational Supplies
- All items are provided, no need to bring own supplies.
Advance Preparation for Separation
- Discuss the schedule and talk about what to expect during the day with your kids in advance.
- Goodbye routine - plan a short and reassuring goodbye routine.
Emotional Preparation
- Read books about starting preschool to help your child understand what to expect.
- Visit the school together to familiarise your child with the environment if possible.
Communication with Teachers
- Share any important health concerns with teachers.
- Remember to update teachers if your phone numbers and emails are different from the enrolment form.
- Feel free to briefly chat with teachers during drop-off and pick-up for quick updates on your child, or schedule a more detailed meeting if needed.
